Where to Start Looking to Find a Alaska Colleges
The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education website is the place to start your search for a college in Alaska. Given that there are only three four-institutions with 500 or more full-time undergraduates, there really aren’t a lot of colleges to search through. However, the website still provides users with valuable information
The website is home to the Alaska Student Aid Portal where students can track their Alaska Performance Scholarship and AlaskaAdvantage Education Grant. Users will also find information on state loans for students and families. The site includes a comparison table of the Alaska Family Education Loan and the Federal Direct PLUS loans.
Users will find links to Alaska’s College Goal Sunday and the online magazine Going to College in Alaska. Students can receive free one-on-one assistance with college planning and financial aid documents at the ACPE Success Center in Anchorage. ACPE will also provide free presentations and workshops.
Students can login to the Alaska Career Information System through their school which allows teachers and counselors access to student portfolios. The AKCIS portal provides users with a variety of checklists to prepare for college. Students can use the Course Planner to ensure they are on track for graduation and are taking classes that will meet their career goals. The portal also has a variety of skills and career assessments available for users.

Alaska has three four-year public institutions with 500 or more full-time undergraduates. There are no private not-for profit colleges this size according to the Integrated Post-secondary Data System. The average five-year graduation rate was 20.3%. No university meets the DIY College Rankings 50-50 profile requirements.
The average SAT score for college-bound seniors in Alaska was 507 for Critical Reading and 503 for Math. The 75th percentile scores were 580 for Critical Reading and 580 for Math. Only one university had 75th percentile scores equal to or higher than the state average in both categories.
