Students may be accepted at ten colleges but they can only attend one. When they finally decide which school to attend, students become part of the college’s yield rate. The yield rate is the percentage of accepted students who actually end up attending the school. So you figure the yield rate for Harvard would have the highest rate around, right? Wrong. There are eight other schools with rates higher than Harvard’s 81% including the College of the Ozarks.

8 Tips to Survive the College Admissions Interview
The following are suggested tips for preparing for the college admissions interview. These are all general recommendations. If you have specific information that applies to a specific college, then certainly go with it. I really don’t think there is one answer for all situations so of course these are suggestions and not rules written in stone. They are based on the experiences with my son and wading through countless websites and college admission books.
How to Decide Between Two Universities You Were Accepted To
College is likely the first glimpse into the “real world” that you will see. In this time, you’ll build a foundation for your career, create connections for future jobs, and learn to parent yourself. These years can be great – or another repeat of high school; it all depends on where you spend them. But what if you applied to two great schools and got accepted to both? If you’re having trouble deciding between two universities, consider these points:
What You Need to Know About Applying to College with a Learning Disability
Fortunately, when my son was applying to college he didn’t have to deal with a learning disability on top of everything else although I do know quite a few homeschoolers who did have to deal with both issues. It seems to me that the approach one takes in applying to college as a homeschooler isn’t all that different from that of someone applying to college with a learning disability. Ultimately, students have to be prepared to address the issue as appropriate throughout the admissions process.
5 Reasons Why College Confidential is Slowly Killing You
(The following is a guest post by JJ Shaw, an incoming freshman at Columbia College, and pretty much sums up why you should never visit the “chance me” forums at College Confidential.)
College Confidential is “the world’s largest college forum.” Except in this world, 2400s aren’t merely enough.
It has a long history of feeding the egocentric tendencies of high achieving seniors. It inflates the self-worth of some, all while crushing the confidence of otherwise perfectly capable college-bound students.
Best 7 Facebook Pages on College Admissions
Believe it or not, spending time on Facebook can be a good thing for parents involved in the college search and admission process. In fact, Facebook can be an efficient way of collecting information from a variety of sources to help figure out what you need to know about finding and paying for college. And I’m not talking about simply following colleges that might eventually make the final college list.
Yes, It is Harder to Get Into the Top Ranked Colleges
Are your chances of becoming president better today than they were in 1990? Given that the population in 1990 was 248,709,873 and increased by 24% to 308,745,538 in 2010, your chances are worse. While the general population has increased, there is still only one president. Despite population growth, we still have 435 members in the House of Representatives, the same number as in 1911. If the proportion of the number of representatives kept pace with the population since then, we would be looking at a House of Representatives approaching 1,500.
What does this have to with college admissions? There are still only eight Ivy League Universities and their class size certainly hasn’t been keeping up with population growth.
What You Need to Know About College Confidential
College Confidential seems to be a lot like the US News College Rankings. Either people use it blindly as the final word on college admissions or they see it as simply the manifestation of all that is wrong with the college admissions process. The reality is that College Confidential, like US News College Rankings, can be a useful tool in your college search toolbox if used properly.
Some Perspective on Getting Into College
You know getting into college must be tough when some of the highest achieving high schools are experiencing suicide clusters. It’s not really that surprising given what you hear in the popular media. Come April 1st every year, you would think that most high school students don’t have a chance of getting into their first choice college. All you hear is how few students colleges are accepting into their freshman classes and the despair of the worthy students and their families.
