During the college admissions process it’s not uncommon for professionals and parents to throw up their hands up in the air in frustration as they do their best to guide their students. Well, maybe as they do so they can find some assistance from the heavens. After all, sometimes there doesn’t seem to be any better explanation for some admission decisions than it was in the stars. So for those with seniors looking for what comes next after the frantic activity of the fall, the following are some suggestions on what to do in January as you start the waiting period for spring acceptances.
Aries (Mar 21-Apr 19)
While it’s hard to wait for the acceptance letters, make the most of the time looking for scholarships others have overlooked. But if you come across some that don’t work for you, be sure to share them with a friend and it may take the relationship in a new direction.
Taurus (Apr 20-May 20)
Now that you’ve got your applications in, a little flexibility is what you need to finish off the applications process. Go back and check your safety school, if it’s not one you would be happy attending, you still have time to apply to one where you will.
Gemini (May 21-Jun 20)
Take this time to play to your strengths, things change and you need to be ready to go with the flow. Forget about the “hottest” jobs now, take a look at the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook and see what the projections are for when you graduate.
Cancer (Jun 21-Jul 22)
Some of your relationships can use some shoring up after the frantic application season. This is a good time to tell those who helped you through the process how much you’ve appreciated their help.
Leo (Jul 23-Aug 22)
Take some time to look around you. Someone you know has already received bad news about college. Don’t bother digging for the details and just offer consolation and support for some great alternatives.

Virgo Aug (23-Sep 22)
While few would suspect you of all people to let your grades go after getting your applications in, you are feeling like you deserve a breather. Just remember that there’s a difference between knocking off a half hour early to watch some videos and dropping a couple of letter grades. Colleges do rescind acceptances.
Libra Sep (23-Oct 22)
Be confident in your college choices. Unless you forgot to pick a realistic safety school, don’t let anyone else drag you down because of your choices. Remember, these aren’t the people you’ll be going to college with in the fall.
Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21)
Set aside thoughts of college admissions and spend some time focusing on your hobbies. You remember doing stuff for fun, don’t you? Let them rejuvenate you and help you make your final decision once the acceptance come in.
Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 21)
Ease some of the anxiety of what will happen next fall, line up some job shadowing for the coming summer. Don’t limit yourself to just “serious” professions, try anything that catches your fancy and find out how they make their jobs work for them.
Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 19)
Now that you’ve spent so much time and energy on figuring out how to please college admission offices, figure out what’s important to you. Make a list of the 5 things you value most in your life. Then figure out how you’re going to keep them there when you go to college.
Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)
Help out a friend who didn’t make very realistic choices in their college applications. There are still plenty of very good schools accepting applications in January including Trinity University, Missouri University of Science and Technology, and Butler.
Pisces (Feb 19-Mar 20)
This is the perfect time for you to create a list of things that you aren’t great at and have been relying on others to help you out. It might be laundry, rebooting your computer, or cooking but it’s time to figure out how you’re going to do it on your own.
